Sylvan Learning, the leader in personalized learning for students K-12, partnered with RPI to solve the challenge of brand consistency in franchise marketing and reducing excess printed collateral inventory.

Sylvan has more than 800 franchise and corporate learning centers and is listed regularly as one of the top franchise organizations in North America. But with growth come challenges, particularly maintaining brand consistency among its centers.

Posters, student guides and other printed materials are an important part of Sylvan’s marketing and promotion support for its franchisees, and many times these materials are updated quarterly. Sylvan installed a Marketing Action Resource Center (MARC) that would enable its franchise network to create and order pre-approved marketing materials in a timely fashion. However, while franchisees could download various materials in PDF form, they were unable to print materials directly via the MARC.

Sylvan turned to RPI-Atlanta for help. RPI has deep experience in helping corporations develop seamless, frictionless solutions for printing collateral materials across networks.

RPI installed an integrated print- on-demand system to Sylvan’s existing MARC platform. This enabled franchise owners to have a ‘print button’ that provided competitive pricing and quick turnaround within seven days of the order.

Franchise owners now can create, order and print materials via MARC that are brand-compliant and updated according to the corporate marketing schedule, ensuring brand consistency across Sylvan’s entire franchise network. Orders are processed, printed and shipped directly to the franchise customers within a week.

Working in close partnership with Sylvan, RPI has helped create a powerful print-on-demand system that meets the needs of Sylvan’s vast North American franchise network. Nearly 70 percent of Sylvan’s franchise owners use MARC for their corporate collaterals needs, thanks to its ease of use, quick turnaround and competitive pricing.

This print-on-demand solution has enabled Sylvan to substantially reduce inventory of printed marketing and teaching materials.

The partnership goes well-beyond print production. RPI’s account team meets quarterly with its Sylvan counterparts to coordinate promotions that help drive the use of marketing materials in ways that are consistent across the entire network.
